We run Hazemags for secondary and tertiary. Minimizing the gap will definately increase your fines but I am not sure where the minimum gap would be. We have 2 impact plates one set being closer than the other.
The gap and speed are the only adjustments you have. If this is something that you want to experiment with you might want to consider installing a VFD to fine tune it to where you want it.

We are connected to a freq. drive, so rpms are infinatley variable. our gaps are 1/4" and 3/8" ,I belive, which are the suggested mins. Thanks alot for your help, I have been having trouble getting in contact with hazemag. ■

Hazemag Impact Crushing
Currently running an aging Hazemag crusher as a tertiary waste recovery system, trying to increase fines. There is a plant shut down scheduled for late august wherein the blow bars will be rotated. Any other tips as to how to optimise? the aprons are already set to ecommended minimums, is there any merit in closing the gaps? We think we have the ideal speed locked down at 67 Hz, 555 rmp. Any tips are appreciated. ■
