This used ship unloader together with pump and compressor were imported in to Vietnam in 2002,

This ship unloader was operated for only 600 hours running then the cement plant did not have a demand to use it. Until in 2012 the cement plant decided to sell it.

We purchased this shipunloader from that cement manufacturer in Oct 2012. We disassembled this ship unloader into two parts for transporting it by barge & truck from the cement factory to our factory.(See on Ship unloader in our workshop)

The shipunloader with its compressor and pump have been kept in the very good maintenance condiitions for good operations and recently the cement plant decided to sell it to us. The equipment is in a good condition, ready to work, and can be inspected.

We have 1 pump Ibau IBD-350 and 1 air compressors Aerzen Vm140 in stock and on sale, with a mobil Ibau Ship Unloader IBM-300 ( All in used) (Please see on this thread)

One of our value customers ask me to advise them with IBAU IBD -350 pump (Motor 250 Kw) and compressor Aerzen Vm140 (Motor 450 Kw), the distance between Ship Unloader & silo is how far and how much the height of the silo is to match the capacity of Ship Unloader.

Expected silo sizes with a capacity of about 6.000 m3 (approximately 9.000 ton cement)

Please advise me.

Screw pump IB – D350:

350 tons/hr cement.

First conclusion:

The screw unloader capacity is the limiting factor (300 tons/hr)

Aerzen screw compressor VM140:

Power of e-motor = 450 kW

At 450 kW an Aerzen compressor VM140 can deliver approx. 123.7 m3/min at 2.0 bar

For a cement conveying installation, a pipe diameter of 16” (internal diameter = 387 mm) is required.

The resulting maximum distance with this installation for a capacity of approx. 300 tons/hr is:

horizontal distance = 200 m

vertical distance = 40 m

number of bends = 8

pipe diameter = 16” (387 mm)

Compressor:

Aerzen VM140 at 4523 rpm

2.061 m3/sec at 2.0 bar

Calculated capacity = 309 tons/hr cement.

Screw pump:250 kW

Total installed power:940 kW

Installation capacity :300 tons/hr

Installed energy per ton = 940/300 = 3.13 kWh/ton

Assumed full load = 80%, corresponding with 752 kW for a rate of 300 tons/hr

Full load energy consumption = 752/300 = 2.5 kWh/ton.

However, an unloader does not operate at full load during the whole unloading.

An unloading efficiency for a screw unloader is approx. 50% (A pneumatic unloader can achieve 65% to 75%)

50% of the unloading time, the installation runs idle, resulting in 150 tons/hr average capacity.

The idle power is estimated approx 25% = 188 kW

The estimated energy consumption becomes:

(0.5*752 + 0.5*188)/150 = 3.13 kWh/ton (Excluding auxiliaries)

About the connection between the unloader and the screw pump intake, I assume that the outlet of the loading screw dumps the cement into the screw pump hopper.

As long as this flexible pipe can handle the cement flow, there is no capacity problem.

De-aeration of the hopper is crucial.
