It appears that the temperature was too low during the cook and it did not completely cure.

I once had a situation where the techinician was monitoring the temperature and all was fine on his gauges but after we ran the conveyor for a week we had splice failures.

After carefully examining the platens of the vulcanizer we found that not all areas of the plattens were heating up. And the area where the techinician had his sensor was in a good area. The contractor had to replace his platens.

To correct this possible problem we made sure that the technican used at least 4 sensors on any future cooks.
