Start with contacting mfgrs. rep and requesting typical catalog literature for the application you describe. THey will usually help educate you on compound selections. ■

Of course you will need to have calculated the width and strength of the belt you require according to the duty of the belt conveyor. ■

You can also obtain the national and some of the international standards on belt conveyor design. These will provide you certain information about the belt conveyors, function, main requirements, etc.
