What's your opinion on flip flop screen?

Posted in: , on 19. Dec. 2006 - 07:40

Hello, everybody.

Do you have the experience on flip flop screen?

We are more interesting in the useage of flip flop screen on coal screen to separate 8mm coal from 0~50mm coal.

Could you kindly give me a comparisons between Heinlehmann's IFE's and Binder's equipment?

I hope you can contact with me by email: lijian@mindac.com

Comparison On Flip Flop Screens

Posted on 22. Dec. 2006 - 05:10

Both are same concept basically.....

1. Dual vibration design. body runs at about 2 G's and urethane decks run up to 50 G's.

2. Both aggressive decks, flip up flop down, or tension and relax alternately to move material.

3. Both well established in Europe and both making inroads to N. American markets over last 10 years or so.

4.Binder (known as Bivitec in USA) has a very user friendly wedge fit urethane, NO hardware! just a rubber mallot and soapy water, and lightweight easy for one man to bring all panels up to install by himself....beautiful!

5. Heinlehmann's IFE's (known as Liwell in NA) uses a lot of nuts and bolts to attach and more difficult and longer to install and changeout.

6. Both well known, both well designed lots of applications in Europe and lots of applications in North America.

7. If you can not screen it with a conventional screener, then you go to these devices as one alternative...

8. Very expensive vs conventional circle throw screeners - this typically scares buyers off pretty quickly. BUT, they do work in their niche applications.

9. ASK for a demo on your site or send a truckload to the factory.

10. Mtce is no biggie either, very simple straight forward.

11. Urethane panels are quite expensive each, plus minus a $1000-$1500 USD. They last fairly long though.

12. I have them in furnace slag fine screening, 2mm & 3mm fine limestone screening, incinerator water quenched waste material and 2-3mm fine sand screening....all excellent applications with these special screeners.

Hope this helps. GB Moderator.

What's The Disadvantage Of The Different Type Screens?

Posted on 22. Dec. 2006 - 06:20

Mr. George Baker,

Thanks very much for your information.

I have an application for coal screening. The technical requirement as following:

Capacity: 200t/h

Cutpoint: 5mm

Material: coal

Size of material: 0~50mm

0~5mm, 20%; 5~20mm, 50%; 20~50mm, 20%

moisture content: max, 10%

bulk density: 0.8t/m3

Which company¡¯s screen you prefer to use for this application?

Told from the photos in Heinlehmann¡¯s website, the screen seems not totally sealed. There is no cover on the top, no flange connected with the inlet chute and outlet chute. While IFE¡¯s screen seems to be totally sealed.

Another point is the spring connected with the inner frame and outside frame. There is only one spring in IFE¡¯s screen while around 4 springs in Heinlehmann¡¯s screen. Which solution is better?

Enclosed Screen Decks

Posted on 23. Dec. 2006 - 03:20

Ljonline: Both screen manufacturers can totally seal all around with vibrating covers or non-vib covers NO PROB.

They can both quote with totally dust enclosed completely all around for extra $$.

Important that you make sure the urethane is sealed up tightly at the sideplate butt up position. So you do not get fines passing thru the urethane where it meets the sideplates.

Vibrating flanges with flex connects and or non vib flanged dust enclosures can be supplied by either outfit.

Both of the springs setups are absolutely fine - completely accepted by industry stds......coil springs are ya know kinda old technology concept. But, are less capital cost.

If I had to choose, it would be close but, the Bivitec (BINDER) because of its HARDWARE - less urethane install method, proven time savings on screen deck changes WINS in my books.

Have a Flip Flop Christmas!!!

Add Spray Water??

Posted on 12. Apr. 2011 - 11:03

ANSWER is yes, water sprays can be added.

but, one of the conceptual ideas of this technology is the idea of high G factor effected to the individual panels...upwards of 50 G's . the theory was able to keep the aperture clear with accelerating forces vs the need for the use of water to help keep the openings cleared.

hope this helps.

Flip Flop Screen To Vibrofeeder?

Posted on 6. Sep. 2011 - 06:30

Dear Mr. George Baker & other experts,

Is it possible to change the Flip Flop screen to simple vibrofeeder ? Can we disengage the secondary oscillating frame from the primary oscillating frame? Then can we connect the cross members of primary frame by thin metallic sheet? This primary oscillating frame is oscillated ( i.e pushed and pulled ) directly by the motor. This may work as a simple linear motion vibrofeeder.

Have you ever done such exercise? Was this successful? I am forced to blind the damaged PU decks and need to keep the plant running, till the spares are received.

Having your opinion, will guide my course of action.

Thanking you with regards,

Hi Alva

I have screens of VIBFEM (which is another flip-flow system) screening 3mmm wet old stockpile coal in Europe. There are several option available to screen the product required and with 8mm you should get 80-90% efficiency if the screen selection and installation is done correctly.

For China the screen would be manufactured in Australia - we have a representative in Shanghai.
