DIAMONDBACK SCREW FEEDER DENSIFIES SOLIDS WHILE MINIMIZING FLOODING AND FLUSHING

A remarkable densifying screw feeder that removes air from particulate solids, is ideal for increasing a bulk solid’s density before packaging, for predensifying a solid prior to roll or plunger compaction or replacing air with a different gas.

The Diamondback Densifying Screw Feeder, with its patented arch-breaking Diamondback Hopper®, retrofits existing bins to minimize flooding, flushing and erratic flow while providing consistent densification.

The feeder has a recirculation chamber that redirects escaping fine solids back into the screw feeder and can include gas injection nozzles for replacing one gas with another. The chamber design also prevents overfeeding because the portion of the feed screw that conveys the solids through the recirculation chamber moves the solids faster than the portion that introduces the solids into the recirculation chamber.

"This screw has a variety of applications, from prefeeding rotary valves to prevent leakage and blow-back into the hopper, to handling cohesive materials at consistent output densities," said Diamondback Technology President Lee Dudley. "The screw`s variable speed also accommodates both fast and dribble feed conditions."

The Arch-breaking Diamondback Screw Feeder comes in 6-, 12- and 18-inch diameters and is coated on key flight areas with wear-resistant steel. Its removable screw and bearing assembly simplifies maintenance or repairs and shortens process downtime, while the cantilevered screw reduces bearing and seal problems. The screw also is available with extra mating flanges for retrofitting existing hoppers.
