The new IKA® Conical Dryer provides manufactures the flexibility of working with the most challenging process requirements. Regardless of product characteristics, volume or solvent type the result is always the same: gentle, homogeneous and energy-efficient drying of the batch.
The new IKA® drying system provides an optimum mixing quality with a slewing mechanism for the whole vessel and a simple tilting mechanism to open the vessel cover. The direct heated spiral agitator and a flexible design with optional components make the conical dryer a universally applicable dryer. It works under vacuum and temperatures up to 200 degrees Celsius. In addition, the speed of the spiral agitator is infinitely variable.
The IKA® Cone Dryer Type CD is specifically designed for vacuum-contact-drying of various solvent-humid solids with different free-flowing behaviours and different bulk densities. Wet, dull or sticky bulk material, filter cakes and slurries can be easily processed with the IKA® Conical Dryer. In order to adapt the mixing result to the flowing behaviour of the product the conical dryer is equipped with a top mounted flow breaker. The resulting solvent vapours are extracted by a reversible flow dust filter that is mounted on the cover. Optionally, the conical dryer can be equipped with a lump breaker for disintegration of agglomerates.
Compact and flexible
The IKA® Conical Dryer has a low installation height and provides an optimized heat transfer rate. A key innovation of the system is the combined tilting and sluing mechanism. The tilting mechanism provides the easy opening of the vessel cover. The optional slewing mechanism for the complete vessel improves the drying process. The inclination provides optimal advantages in mixing of the entire product. In addition, gravitation affects the drying products. Therefore, even very poor flowing products will be sufficiently stirred. The sluing drive allows a fixed position of the complete vessel at any position between 0° and 45°.
Both the tilting mechanism for the cover and the slewing mechanism for the vessel are integrated into a base frame which is additionally equipped with the control panel.
The basic design of the conical dryer includes the vessel with mounted feet made of steel tube. The feet are designed to be bolted to the ground. A high-end design of the Conical Dryer with tilting and sluing mechanism can be provided with a mobile vessel and casters, allowing the vessel to be removed from the frame. On request the system can be equipped with several identical vessels. During processing these additional vessels can serve as exchange, storage or reaction vessels.
Cleaning-in-place (CIP), pharmaceutical design, load cells, electrical controls, and other accessories are optional available on request. The IKA® conical dryer is offered in 9 different sizes with vessel volume from 10 to 4000 litres.
