The first HAVER ROTO CLASSIC® goes into operation at PHOENIX-Zement in Germany

The most modern cement packing machine now available on the market went into operation last April at the Phoenix Zementwerke Krogbeumker GmbH & Co. KG, a family-owned, mid-size company in Beckum, Germany. The machine is the HAVER ROTO CLASSIC® (RCC) with 12 filling spouts, which is the latest development from its decades-long partner Haver & Boecker in Oelde. This new compact filling system was integrated into Phoenix’s existing packing line. At the same time the discharge line was modernised. The project-wide installation was carried out in ten days, two days of which were needed for disassembling the old packer. Fine adjustments were conducted during operation.

The compelling reasons for going ahead with the project – in addition to the RCC’s higher packing speed of 4500 bags per hour versus 4000 by the previous machine – were the demand for cutting edge technology and environmental friendliness. These factors are especially important in order for a mid-size company to be successful on the international market. Because PHOENIX has an above average share of bagged cement finished products – approx. 5 million bags are packed annually – it was paramount to have an especially reliable and high-speed technology explained Dr. Gustav Krogbeumker, managing director and partner of PHOENIX during the official machine start-up.

The new packer generation, which was previously introduced to customers and representatives from all over the world at the HAVER Technology Days in October 2008, sets itself apart with its many advantages. The ROTO CLASSIC® is based on the proven reliable HAVER technology. Through its unique modular design – each filling station is in itself a fully functioning single-spout filling machine – where various equipment possibilities are possible for suiting particular needs. Moreover a filling module can be removed without a problem, e.g. for maintenance purposes, while the packing operation continues with the remaining packing modules.

Also maintenance and operational ease are significantly improved. With just a few motions of the hand, main parts that wear out can be replaced quickly and easily. Its compact design reduces the general need for space. In addition to high filling speeds, HAVER technology assures a clean packing operation. Minimised dust and reduced energy consumption are yet further advantages offered by the RCC.
