CRT Group and Sugar Australia - A partnership delivering innovative solutions

3 June 2009

National transport and logistics company, CRT Group, today confirmed that it has entered into an agreement with refined sugar products supplier Sugar Australia to provide bulk transport and logistics services.*

Under the agreement, CRT Group, a subsidiary of national transport and logistics company QR Limited, will provide supply chain solutions to Sugar Australia throughout South Australia and Victoria from 1 June 2009, including the transport and distribution of over 5,000 tonnes of sugar from its refinery and depots to customers in those states per week.

The strong relationship between the two companies began in 2006 when they collaborated on a project to transport refined sugar in bulk from the Sugar Australia plant in Yarraville (Victoria) to Perth (WA).

This partnership resulted in the introduction of a supply chain solution for the market leader that has optimised their transport and logistics resources and provided efficiencies and flexibility in their operations - a revolutionary step for the transport and distribution of sugar across Australia.* *

Chief Executive Officer of CRT Group, Cameron Dunn, welcomed today's announcement and noted the commitment by Sugar Australia to invest in innovative and sustainable solutions.

"As a market leader, Sugar Australia has a proven record of delivering high quality and innovative products.* This aligns with CRT Group's core values and our strategy of delivering added value to our customers by seeking new practices that are sustainable," Mr Dunn said.

Commenting on the uncertainty of the economic climate, Mr Dunn went on to reinforce the significance of investment in sustainable and cost-effective transport and logistics solutions.

"At CRT Group, we understand that cost reduction through innovation is a key driver for our customers. Progressive businesses such as Sugar Australia require supply chain solutions that are flexible and optimise resources," he said.

"Given the instability of the global economy, it is now more important than ever for companies to ensure that they have a clear strategy for managing their supply chain to drive out costs and deliver sustainable outcomes."

Chief Executive of Sugar Australia, Tim Hart, reinforced the importance of the supply chain in relation to maintaining market leadership and delivering value to the company's customers.

"Sugar Australia has four key components to our customer value proposition namely; reliability, quality, contingency and innovation," Mr Hart said.

"The relationship with CRT Group over the last three years has enhanced the performance of our supply chain via innovative solutions in bulk sugar delivery and storage options, plus improvements in our contingency options offering protection to our customers."

"We look forward to building on the relationship with CRT Group and together finding new ways to further improve our supply chain's cost and performance", he said.
