Silo for Storage of Fertilizer

Posted in: , on 21. Feb. 2014 - 15:23

We are planning to install 2000 t capacity silo near the berth. There shall be bagging unit below the silo. Fertilizer to the silo shall be filled directly from the grab cranes mounted on the ship. We want to hold the material inside the silo for max. one week.Their are chances that the material will get stick inside the silo.We need advise from the Hon. members of this forum to how to keep the material inside the silo free flowing.

Installing an open top silo under monsoon conditions was never going to succeed.

Since there is one silo there is only one crane, or what?

Can the crane for a 2000t vessel lift over the lip of the bin in the first place?

Obviously there are glaring gaps in your proposal and it would be impossible to give a comprehensive reply without further information. Probably not for free either.

Dear John, Thanks for your reply. I am providing the information for other Hon. members--

1.There shall not be any operations during rainy season.

2.The ship has four cranes, when one hold of the ship is empty then the ship will be moved near to the silo. While unloading from the ship, bagging and open truck loading operations will continue.

3.The silo has to be closed from the top.The top cover of the silo will be operated mechanically (motorized/pneumatically).
