Hi Guys,

I have started reading chapter 6 of the CEMA book.

Can you please share your info regarding the meaning of the following terms:

1-Regenerative conveyor ?

2-Belt Training ?

3-Regenerative declined conveyor?

Thanks in advance

Alex

Dear Mr. Alex,

1) Regenerative Conveyor : The belt conveyor if adequately declined (down slope) then it will be generating power rather than demanding power for its operation. This means it will tend to run on its own when adequately loaded. In brief it is a regenerative conveyor.

2) Belt Training : Belts tend to run misaligned sometimes due to various reasons. This means belt centre line will not be exactly at the idler centre line. The conveyor often includes certain corrective measures such as special type of idlers etc. which tried to push the belt in the aligned position. This is traditionally called as belt training. Well, belt is a non-living item and nobody can impart any training to it as per dictionary meaning.

3) Regenerative decline conveyor : It is the same as serial no. 1 above.

You may also wish to read Mr Mulani's book "Engineering Science and Application Design for Belt Conveyors" in addition to the CEMA publication.
