Can anyone tell me the difference between Stratified flow and Fluidised Dense flow or conveying.

Dear Ankita,

The word stratified means in layers.

A stratified flow is f.i. water flowing through a pipe with flowing air on top.

In pneumatic cnveying this situation can occur in the form of dune conveying or as a moving bed in an airslide.

In fluidized dense flow in pneumatic conveying, the material is in suspension in the air flow.

There are no layers recognizable.

Dense flow is with air velocities below the minimum pressure drop per conveyed length.
