Dear Afsaneh,

Assuming that your question refers to the adverb LOOSE, rather than the meaning of BULK MATERIAL.

Looking in a dictionarry, the word loose means "not confined" and "not attaced"

see: http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/loose

In general any bulk material is loosely dumped.

When bulk material is free flowing to a certain degree (not packed), it is also called "loose".

A more specific answer is possible, if you explain the context of your question.

have a nice day

"Loose" is an adjective which defines a degree of non-attachment. Its opposite is to be attached like being more cohesive, adhesive, sticky or connected such as an agglomerate.

"Bulk Material" defines the state of material density, which differs from a "Singular Solid", such as a granular composite made up of solids and voids between solids.

I am sure you can Google this and get many replies.

"Loose Bulk Material" tends to define, in a non-scientific way, the degree of flowability. Loose = more flowable. It also implies, in a non-scientific way, particles larger than 100 micron when describing flowability.

Sorry Tues,

I did not see your reply. It seems we are both right :" adjective" and "adverb"

Dear Lawrence,

Adjective is the right word.

An adverb says something about an adjective.

Grammar is important, because it gives us the opportunity to communicate in a proper, civilized and sophisticated manner.

The only way to improve this world.

Take care

Taking loose to mean not fully restrained: gases must be completely enclosed; liquids must be laterally enclosed while solids only require support. Removal of any of the aforementioned restraining conditions therefore loosens a body of material.

Bulk describes the perceived quantity under consideration.

So, Loose Bulk Material is simply an amount of unconfined matter. In its loosest term.

Now, what do you really want to know?
