MBA level measurement devices provide precise content indications

Varying products and difficult usage conditions often pose a great challenge in measuring bulk goods. For that reason, trouble-free procedures in transport, storage and further processing can only be achieved with suitably designed measurement instruments. MBA Instruments GmbH from Quickborn combines robust and reliable mechanics with state-of-the-art electronics in the production of level indicators for bulk goods and liquids.

The main advantage of the MBA200 rotary blade indicator is that it can be used to indicate full and empty statuses for nearly all bulk goods. Notification is given in a safety-oriented manner: This way, the level indicator prevents a silo from

overflowing, even if malfunctions such as a power outage or broken wire in the supply line occur. The device has a large clamping space which facilitates simple and secure cable connection and has a device head which can be rotated easily to enable precise adjustment after assembly. The switching sensitivity can be set with ease. With models designed specially for areas prone to explosion, temperatures of up to 800 degrees Celsius and high pressure and available with a

diverse array of rigid and flexible shafts, the MBA200 is well-suited for any bulk good. In addition to the ‘classic’ micro-switch version with safety-oriented switching, the fill level indicator is also available in a multi-voltage version with a

micro-controller as well as electron switch-on and shutdown delay which makes allowances for turbulent product movements when the silo is being filled or emptied. The device also boasts an operation monitor and an electronically

regulated internal heater for very low ambient temperatures. Gold-plated contacts offer high switching reliability even at low voltages and currents such as when connected to memory-programmable control units. ‘With the MBA 200 rotary blade level indicator and the MBA LOT369 electro-mechanic bulk measurement system, MBA offers an attractive portfolio for special applications in bulk good measurement; MBA Instruments uses its high degree of flexibility in design and production to develop more and more special solutions for desired measurement tasks’, explains Hans-Heinrich Westphal, managing director of MBA.

On 1 October, MBA Instruments GmbH acquired the level measurement technology division of MAIHAK AG in a management buyout. MAIHAK AG had belonged to the process automation segment of SICK AG since the year 2000.The management of the newly founded company is headed by Hans-Heinrich Westphal, long-term head of distribution at MAIHAK AG and Andreas Heckel, managing director of SMB International GmbH. MBA’s new head office is located on the SMB premises in the Schleswig-Holstein town of Quickborn.
