Sandvik Mobile Crushing & Screening

Sandvik Mobile Crushing and Screening bucked the trend towards doom and gloom in 2009 by holding an open day in Northern Ireland

Hillhead cancelled, very little mobile plant being shown at Intermat, the question very much on people’s minds was how do they get to find out what’s the latest in mobile screening and crushing. Well, those clever people at Sandvik (formerly Fintec and Extec) came up with a great idea and on the 27th February 2009, Sandvik Mobile Crushing and Screening held an open day Grogans Quarry, Carrickmore, Northern Ireland, to show that despite the recession, it’s business very much as usual for the Ballygawley and Swadlincote based company.

Many of the leading companies involved in crushing and screening from both Northern and Southern Ireland were in attendance, where they enjoyed excellent hospitality, and got to see at first hand some of the latest developments in the mobile screening and crushing world.

Machines and their exciting features included:

QH330 - (F1080 Cone Crusher)

•Variable belt speed for controlled and continuous feed

•Hydraulic closed side setting adjustment

•Hydraulic legs for increased stability and servicing capabilities

•Metal detector for feed hopper

•Global aftermarket support, with standard stock parts to ensure minimum loss of production

•Machine designed for efficient fuel economy and low operating costs.

QJ340 - (C-12+ Jaw Crusher)

•High crushing speed, together with large feed opening, provides impressive rates of production, yet able to provide superb reduction ratios

•Hydraulically adjustable CSS for a variety of applications

•Reverse crushing action to relieve blockages and Vogel automatic central lubrication system to increase machine up-time

•Hydraulic legs for increased stability and servicing capabilities

•Global aftermarket support, with standard stock parts to ensure minimum loss of production

•Machine designed for optimum fuel economy and low operating costs.

QA330 - (F-542 Screen)

•High production rate through large screening area, high frequency double deck screen and a five degree inclined angle on screen-box to produce a “banana” effect

•Fully capable of working at the quarry face, inner city development or recycling centre

•Modern chassis design ensures in-built machine quality and strength for maximum up-time

•Global aftermarket support, with standard stock parts to ensure minimum loss of production

•Machine designed for optimum fuel economy and low operating costs.

QE340 - (E-7 Scalper)

•Large total scalping area allows for enormous rates of production

•Capable of being fed by large crushers, yet precise enough to produce accurate aggregates, and tough enough to recycle mixed materials

•Heavy duty crusher-type chassis ensures maximum up-time

•Global aftermarket support, with standard stock parts to ensure minimum loss of production

•Machine designed for efficient fuel economy and low operating costs.

QA450 - (S-7 Triple Deck)

•Triple deck Doublescreen with four product conveyors allows five products to be produced

•Capable of working alongside large jaw crushers, yet precise enough to produce accurate aggregate products

•Modern chassis design ensures in-built machine quality and strength for maximum up-time

•Global aftermarket support, with standard stock parts to ensure minimum loss of production

•Machine designed for optimum fuel economy and low operating costs.

If that isn’t enough the hardy guests in attendance were provided with hot food (a fantastic curry), light refreshments, and a charity raffle.

The excellent event of course would not have been possible without the generosity of Frankie Grogan. Frankie has been a customer of Fintec’s for many years, and has been so pleased with his machines that he has recently purchased a QA 330 (F542) to work alongside his existing fleet. His principal area of operation has been the sand and gravel quarry that produces different grades of sand and stone for the ready mixed and concrete industry.

Sandvik is a global industrial group with advanced products and world-leading positions in selected areas – tools for metal cutting, machinery and tools for rock excavation, stainless materials, special alloys, metallic and ceramic resistance materials as well as process systems. The Group had at the end of 2007 about 47,000 employees and representation in 130 countries, with annual sales of more than SEK 86,000 M.

Sandvik Mining and Construction is a business area within the Sandvik Group and a leading global supplier of machinery, cemented-carbide tools, service and technical solutions for the excavation and sizing of rock and minerals in the mining and construction industries. Annual sales 2007 amounted to about SEK 33,100 M, with approximately 15,200 employees.

Rationale behind the rebrand - the essential reasoning for the rebranding of Extec/Fintec may be summarised as:

SMC operates a one brand strategy that allows its customers to enjoy the benefits of a world class organisation that has the products, the coverage and the culture to enhance the individual parts.

The SMC regions are now involved in the distribution of the product range, and are thus ready to take responsibility for the distribution of the product range in their respective regions.

Dealer networks have now been streamlined so that there are no major overlaps.

Extec and Fintec documentation, reporting systems and so forth have now been integrated in to SMC systems.

The product line was, and is complementary, to Sandvik mobile products. There are no overlaps but additions, which allows greater choice for our customers.

The main customers for Extec/Fintec products are essentially contractors. This means that Extec/Fintec networks will provide Sandvik regions better access to contractor customers.

Many Extec/Fintec products are suitable also for Quarrying, Civil Engineering and Mining customers. These are core markets for Sandvik products, and will thus allow many cross selling opportunities.
