Close co-operation secures self-unloading cement coaster contracts

Japanese company Taiheiyo Engineering has ordered MacGREGOR selfunloading systems to be installed on two coastal cement carriers, guaranteeing high capacity cargo discharging, low power consumption and high reliability

Cargotec’s MacGREGOR has received an order for two bulk cement selfunloading systems from Taiheiyo Engineering Corporation in Japan. MacGREGOR has unrivalled experience in developing marine cargo handling and offshore load-handling solutions, and is part of Cargotec Corporation, the world's leading provider of cargo handling solutions used in local transportation, terminals, ports, distribution centres, and ships.

The cement selfunloading systems will be installed on each of two cement carriers designed for coastal cement distribution. These will have a loading capacity of 400t/h and a discharging rate of 250t/h. The delivery of the equipment to Japan is in 2010.

Patrik Wiln, product and sales manager for self-unloading systems says that: “MacGREGOR has enjoyed close co-operation with Taiheiyo Engineering Corporation for many years, supplying numerous units of this type of equipment. The key to this success is delivering the proven performance and reliability of MacGREGOR cargo handling systems.*

“The advantages of using a MacGREGOR system when handling this particular material is its ability to achieve high capacities at a low power consumption with maintained high reliability.”
