Re: Cooling Of Plummer Blocks
Good idea; it should work OK.
I can't think of any drawbacks....its just a load of hot air .■
Memolub Application On Plummer Blocks And Pillow Blocks
Dear Sganesh,
Install Memolub and it will decrease to below 60`C. Memolub ejects 0.635cc fresh grease 4 times a day (adjustable) on that application enough to maintain the grease in ideal level. Please see attach case studies.

Re: Cooling Of Plummer Blocks
Why bother...80deg C is fine
If you rteally want cooling - best to cool the shaft rather than the housing
Thanks

Re: Cooling Of Plummer Blocks
I just wonder why the bearings are running that hot? ■
Re: Cooling Of Plummer Blocks
Depends on
Speed - fans are usually faster than the drive motor - smaller fan unit /cheaper.
Loads eg Vee belts have radial load
Grease used and grease fill in the bearing housing
Heat from shaft eg fan impellor that is running in hot gases > heat tracking > can install cooling impellors.
Radiant heat from hot fan casings
Condition of the bearing - installation set up eg clearances too tight etc
Cooling the housing usally makes thing worse - decrease bearing fit/internal clearances - see last item on the list.
Cheers
James ■
Re: Cooling Of Plummer Blocks
Nothing was said about handling hot gases so I assumed (not to be recommended) that the dust extraction system was ambient air.
Our fitters once had to fit up a layshaft driving a large fan. They were used to shafts rotating slowly so filled the housings completely with grease. The heat generated cost us two bearing assemblies and a new shaft ■
Re: Cooling Of Plummer Blocks
Thanks to all for your replies.
The exhaust temperature is around 35 deg centigrade.

Cooling of Plummer Blocks
Dear all,
In a dust Extraction system, we have 22216 K bearings , 02 numbers installed on the fan's shaft.
They are running at 70 to 80 deg. Celcius.
I want to tap the outlet air ( just after the fan ) and use it for cooling the hot bearing housings.
I have not seen or heard the above idea at other places.
I want to know if there will be any ill effect of implementing this idea.
Thanks & regards, ■
