There is an old conveyor system operated at one of our fertilizer complex and I need to revise the design of it. The paramaters are as follows,

  • Belt capacity = 60 t/h
  • Belt speed = 1,05 m/s
  • Bulk density = 0,9 - 2,0 t/m3
  • Belt width = 500 mm

What should be the proper roller/idler diameter? 89 or 108 and why?

The roll diameter is based on the rotational speed and required bearing life in the roller.

Therefore increasing roll size will increase bearing life. The bearing needs to be sized tro carry the load that will be subjected to it.

So work toward L10 life of 50,000 hours and a maximum roll speed of 600 RPM.

Meejay..

The three things requiring larger diameter rolls are :

- Higher speed as Gary says

- Large lumps

- Heavy duty to get larger shaft and bearings in the end discs of the rolls

For 500mm wide you are not heavy duty at all

For slow speed and fine material large rolls are not indicated

Just check that the shaft delection at 2t/m^3 is less than 8 minutes and you can get the bearings in. Should be fine at the smaller diameter due to short roll length.

With roller/idler 89-diameter you have a live time longer than 100.000 hours

for the bearings 6204. The other parameters of the life time belong to the dust/water and the material you have to transport.

My new patented roller made out of FULL-Plastic Type Recycling

the productions-price will bee ca. € 11.-- per Roller 90 ( ore100) diameter x 200 mm long. with SW 15 (SW14) x 10mm

What are the measures and the quatity for your rollers?
