Cost/ton of wear parts for different types of crushers

Not too long ago I had a client asking for a cone crusher for cement clinker, upon further review I found that the customer has the following configuration: cement kiln discharges to a HSI who then discharges to a Canica VSI and then on to the ball mills. They wanted to increase capacity and thus they need to install new equipment but taking into account that the ball mills have to have a feed of 1/2" minus. We looked at different types of equipments like a clinker breaker, a HSI, a VSI and a cone crusher but nobody has yet to be able to tell me what the cost per ton would be for the wear components, for example a clinker breaker's hammers could cost $X cents per ton, etc. I would appreciate your help.

Operating Costs

Hi rodsallick,

Many production managers don't even know the answer to that question. It depends on how they set up their maintenance cost structure. Usually the cost system does not break down to that level. It is not only the cost of the replacement parts, but it also has an installation labour and equipment component.

The wear of liners varies tremendously, depending on product and the details of the installation and the peculiarities of the flow stream impact and abrasion.

The usual way is to get an estimate of the cost of spares, guess a replacement life, and add an installation cost component. Then calculate back to an equivalent estimated cost/ton of production. There are few who choose to do all that amount of cost calculation.
