MCC Control Managers

My client required the contractor to connect the I/O points to MCC Motor manager and from motor managers to DCS System. These I/O points are coming from the field which contains motors and other electromechanical equipment related to Reclaimers, stackers, conveyors, etc.

Is it ok to connect all I/O points to MCC motor managers or only those points related directly to motors should be connected to Motor Managers and some other I/O points could be connected directly to DCS system.

Thanks

Dear Friend,

It all depends up on the electrical drawings generated for your system..basicaly there are two circuits of electrical system

1. Power circuit : these are all 3 phase 415 V and 1 phase 240 V power lines layed for driving motors, lighting & illumination, heaters etc. which goes from MCC to field.

2. Control circuits : these are single phase lines 120 V or 240 V lines coming from field to MCC..these lines are meant for controls only like safety points, speed monitors, temperature and pressure meters, etc.

Control lines takes the massage from field to marshal rack where the signal is converted to digital mode and passed to PLC or DCS system....these signal are converted to appropriate signal based upon the logic and passed back to marshal rack. From marshal rack the sgnal goes back to MCC from where the related consumer starts or put off on basis of signal from PLC.
