Test Rig Design To Determine The Rolling Resistance Of Conveyor Idler Rollers

G'Day Everyone,

At present I am oursuing a thesis titled: TEST RIG DESIGN TO DETERMINE THE ROLLING RESISTANCE OF CONVEYOR IDLER ROLLERS.

As the title above describes, my objective is to design a rig which would analyse the rolling resistance of conveyor idler rollers of varying dimension (depending on the manufacturer's specs for rollers).

I have gone through several journals, documented conferences, online data bases via university library, etc., and finally for this last two weeks after I am beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

My recent discoveries include STANDARDS, these standards specifically have sections which describe as to how the rolling resistance is to be analysed and what factors are to be considered.

The following are the standards:

DIN 22101

ISO 5048

CEMA 502 - 2004

SABS 1313 - 1 : 2002

After discussing with some industries in Perth and Centre for Bulk Solids and Particulate Technologies - University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia, I have come to conclude that SABS 1313 - 1 : 2002 are the preffered standards for this subject matter.

Though I am now progressing into the design stage for this stage rig, I am interested in knowing your views about this topic, certainly it would be invaluable to me.

Thank you,

Dhruv
