Dust Level Measurement

DEAR NAGARAJ,

THERE ARE VARIOUS METHODS & EQUIPMENT

BUT:

IF YOU NEED SIMPLE & ROUGH MEASUREMENTS YOU SHALL USE/FORM A VOLUME ( BOX, BALOON, PIPE, DUCT ) AND FILL BY THE POLLUTED AIR SAMPLES.

THEN: WAIT FOR THE SUSPENDED MATERIALS TO SETTLE DOWN ON A KNOWN (WEIGHT) SURFACE, OR COLLECT THE PARTILES BY WASHING WATER.

YOU SHALL, TAKE THE DIFFERENCE ON WEIGHT OR EVAPORATE THE WATER & WEIGHT THE RESIDUES.

KNOWING THE VOLUME

&

THE WEIGHT OF PARTICLES.

YOU SHALL REACH TO SOME FIGURES WITH VALUE g/Nm3 OR mg/Nm3 OR Microgram/Nm3.

OF COURSE, THIS METHOD IS VERY MUCH PRIMITIVE AND UNINDUSTRIAL.

FOR INDUSTRIAL / PRACTICAL RESULTS YOU SHALL VISIT:

There are many hand held, field stationed and laboratory tools that can measure fugitive dust. Most use a laser, optical or pneumatic (cyclonic classifier) device.

You need to specify the range of dust particle sizes that you need to analyze. Medium ( micron), small or very small sizes (sub micron).

Costs can range from $1000 to $6000 for hand held or field station.
