Sand Questions

Sand screening:

The biggest question you did not answer is:

What do you have as far as aggregates

to make sand?, a gravel pit? Silica sands?, white sands?, green sands? hard rock? It is not that simple to do.

Typically sand is a byproduct of the gravel pit mining process, unless you are making asphault make up sand.

Over here in the united states typically sand is screened from bank run gravel deposits at the screening phase and the sand is washed down through the main screen after being screened by a four or five deck screen etc. then it is augered from the base of the screen and dumped in a pile to be picked up by a front end loader or it is conveyed to a pile to be used later for what ever purpose.

There are 3 basic types of sand:

1.Sand used for masonry mortar work.

2.Sand used for sand mix concrete mix.

3. Asphault make up sand which is very finely crushed rock which is used to make an asphault mix

binder for roads, parking lots and driveways.

The bagged sand that is sold over here is screened washed and sterilised with heat/steam to gauranty purity. This sand is dry masonary sand typically packed in a triple wall paper valve pack bag rated at eighty pounds capacity-these bags are the strongest for this purpose and they can be recycled easily.

The valve pack bag is a bag where there is one small fill hole/flap glued in the top of the bag.

the bag is filled by opening the flap and inserting it over a filling nozzle and a blast of air is used to move a measured amount of the product into the bag and when it is full it pushes it self off the nozzle simply from it weight and force of the material being bagged and moved away by coveyor to be palletised.

Anything over 20 mesh size and below pea gravel would be considered sand.

The gravel pit owners love those out side storge piles since when it rains they make a lot of money from water weight with no effort on their part. One could say it is manna from heaven.

Separating Sand Into Fine And Coarse?

With water you can use a hydrosizer built by Stokes, Linatex and others. They will separate sand by mesh sizes from 100 mesh and larger. We have used equipment that will do the job for you. I need to know the mesh size separations you need.

I remember an excellent sand & aggregater washing plant in Fujairah, UAE, which was supplied by an Irish outfit. Like Ray G says....They (all) manufacture sand plants...well.
