Shaft thru CG for circular motion

Posted in: , on 30. Oct. 2005 - 15:28

While designing a circular motion screen the mechanism has to pass through the cg of the screen.

Now i wouldl ike to know if it is the center of the machined shaft that has to pass through the CG of the screen or the CG of the counter weights that has to pass thru the CG of the screen.

Theorotically i understand that the center of the shaft shud pass through the CG of the screen but i have seen a couple of screens where the center of the shaft is slightly offset either above the CG or below the CG of the screen by 5-6 mm.

Is there a specific reason in doing so.

Cg Of Screen

SOMETIMES.......CG is changed to accomodate a specific problem.

EXAMPLE: if you installed a low angle.......inclined screen ....say on a portable plant. No room for 20 deg angle say....too high.

People sometimes do........move drive CENTRE back towards the feed end of the screenbox....TO.......in EFFECT......give different circle throw stroke patterns on FEED END vs DISCHARGE END of screen.

THEORY for doing this is.........get bigger stroke on feed where bed depth is deeper or heavier....and less on discharge end where theoretically the bed depth should be thinner and hence, less stroke needed.

THIS is to compensate for the fact the unit was not installed at 20 degree inclined.....angle.....and CG moved to make up for this.

A COMMON problem when this is done: people complain about fines being carried over.....that should pass. A truly VICIOUS CIRCLE.

Sir i would like to know if it is the center of the shaftthat has to be on the Exact center of the CG or is it the CG of the counter weights that has to coincide with the CG point of the screen
