What are the levels of fly losses during unloading of Rock phosphate from a vessel. is there any way to control the same without affecting the discharge rate

regards

We are unloading using grabs

Windage will be a major contributor of airborne dispersement losses in addition to losses due to the dynamic action of the discharging column from the grabs.

About 0.2 to 0.5% loss is inevitable.Could be more depending on the grab construction and the operator technique. To completely eliminate the losses you should look at pneumatic unloading.

In continuation of the expert comments given by Mr. Velan, the fly losses can be reduced by designing/installing a special type of hopper(with doube walls) and a proper dust collector,in the case of rock phosphate unloading you also required a special type of grab.
