Rail Wagon Discharging - Automatic

Posted in: , on 5. Mar. 2005 - 12:35

Hi All,

Does anyone know of a bulk materials handling - rail unloading facility - bottom dump doors over a hopper/feeder/belt conveyor facility that is fully automated and does not have personnel in attendance at the rail receival station??

We have 3 different type of rail wagons and only one of these has an automated door opening/closing system, the rest are manually activated eg lever or valve on the wagin that must be hand operated.

Even with the automated door opening / closing syste, we are bound for safety reasons to have personnel in attendance eg wagon derailment.

The trains have slow speed controllers and there is radio comms with the rail receival station operators if there is an issue.

The rail receival operation is not continous and this means higher manning levels to cater for this demand acc.

It would be nice to go to a fully automated rail receival station that is controlled from the central control room - CCR.

Many thanks

James
