Suppressing dust form stackers/ recalimers is a tough issue. I would need to know more about your operation, type of material, photos and such to provide a definitive reply, but in general with open sources where no enclosure is possible you have a few options that includes wetting the material (adding moisture) prior to handling, and/or building a windscreen to reduce ambient wind that carries the airborne dust and possibly picks up fines and dust form the pile. My firm offer Wind Screen Systems in the form of a knitted polyester fabric that is porous enough to let air (wind) bleed through it, thus equalizing air pressures and reducing wind velocities.
At the ship unloader you may be able to use a Dry Fog system to knock down the dust, if you can contain the dust and the fog in the hold of the ship. Again, I need more info to be definite, but we have done this before with excellent results. Dry fog is just that, droplets in the 1-10 micron size range (same as floating dust) attach to like size airborne dust particles adding cohesion, making particle stick together and therefore fall back into the process due to increased mass. It does not use any chemicals and is applied only to the dust not the product so there is no wetting of the material.

For dust suppression system on stacker/ reclaimmer or ship loader
i will sugesst to provide one water tank and pump with pipe line and splinkers/ nozzles on machine
you have to install pipe line header by side of machine all along the travel lengh. At every 20-30 meter you can provide tappings with valve and coupling. A small hose of 15-20 m can be connected to tank sothat whenever water tank is empty water can be filled from header tapping

Regarding issue of reduction in dust emission to environment, I had earlier given my views in thread “Grab Unloaders - Dust Control” in the forum “Dust Control / Dust Suppression / Dust Collection. Metool from Nottingham make hose and cable reels which are well big enough for a UK stockyard application. Exposed hose reels are OK until winter sets in!
For Whatley Quarries in Zomerzet we ran trenches along the pile and provided a retractable ice breaker to get at the hypolimnium with a stacker mounted pump. Of course with frost all over the pile the equipment would be rarely called upon for half of the year. ■

Dust Control on S/R & Ship Unloaders
I am currently looking for a method to suppress dust on Stacker / Reclaimers and ship unloaders. Presently, I have a temporary water feed using coiled hose which is very labour intensive. The system works but ensuring the hose is not ran over is a big issue.
Are there off the shelf hose reeling systems for water ?
I am also open to suggestions for other ways of suppressing the dust. Burnley baffels etc.
Who are the big players in dust suppression in the uk ? ■
