Troubleshooting 101 tips

SCREEN OUT OF BALANCE:

Possible Cause: Material build up on the screen

Possible Fix: Remove buildup to bring unit back into balance

..........

PC: Installation of a heavier screen media than originally supplied

PF: Must rebalance screen after checking with MFR

................

PC: Chutes, hoppers added to vibrating body

PF: Remove chutework additions

The last one here actually happens a lot. People will add an extended lip on the discharge of the screener to make it drop into a crusher for example. THIS creates havoc, an unbalanced vibration to structures, and WILL crack the extended piece of normally.

TROUBLESHOOTING 101 continued:

POSSIBLE CAUSE: DRIVE BELTS ARE TOO TIGHT

possible fix: Adjust drive belts

Comment: A vibrating screen to work properly, must be free floating on the springs to make a true circle. If belts too tight, a stroke check will show goofy circles.....and the unit will vibrate hard to the drive side.

.....................

PC: MAIN BEARING FAILURE

PF: Replace bearing

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

PC: DAMAGED SUSPENSION

PF: Replace broken coil springs or damaged part

........................

PC: SCREEN OUT OF LEVEL - SIDE TO SIDE

PF: Level the screen

.............................

PC: MACHINE RACKING OR OFF MOTION

PF: Look for broken body member that is operating on its own frequency (separate from the rest of the body)

..........................

PC: UNEVENLY BALANCED VIBRATOR WEIGHTS

PF: Match vibrator weights

Comments: sometimes they fall off....

kEEP your eyes peeled out there................George Baker
