Used Car Tire (Tyre) Handling

Hi All,

Does anyone know of suitable and simple machines for feeding/discharging tires from a storage carosel/cage.

We envisage manhandling tires into a storage device - they could be stacked or stored to suit the "mechanisism" by the person.

From there, the tires would be fed/discharged out one by one to a belt conveyor which is indexed along tire by tire to downstream machines.

The person has to use his time to get more tires and take them up a lift etc etc.

Hence, we need a buffer system to provide this time period. The buffer system should be able to accomdate 30 or more tires at max.

The indexing belt conveyor can hold a max of 10 tires from the end to the head discharge. There is not much room to extend this conveyor to store more tires > but there is not much to be gained as it takes up real estate for not mcuh gain in buffer capacity.

One idea is to have a second belt conveyro above the indexing conveyor ie "S" flow of tires to fed the end of the index conveyor...

Another idea is a storeage cage where the tires are packed/racked in a way to suit some sort of tire ejector/feeder to the tail of the index conveyor...

We are looking for a cheap solution.

Any bright ideas???

Cheers

James

You should visit www.conveyors.co.uk

And our engineer will visit the site.Without visiting the side it is difficult to generate any ideas.

Hello James,

You may want to consider the option used by automotive manufactures in their plants. They tend to use live and dead roller conveyor systems for this purpose - normally elevated- with a roughtop belt conveyor or cleated belt system to get the tires (tyres) to the mezzanine level. For recovery, the use spiral roller conveyor towers.

The advantage is one of lower capital cost and minimal PM requirements.

Hope this helps.

Hi James,

we have designed and and supplied tire handling systems for tire burning in cement industry for more then 20 years now. Special products developed to singulate the tires out of a big pile of those, even dirty, mudy tyres which stuck somewhere in the ground. If you look for some mor e details on that, just call me.

we may send you some papers and further information.
