BallTrays --- WHY?

Posted in: , on 12. Aug. 2004 - 06:22

The use of balls bouncing from below a piece of wirecloth from a wirecloth support tray is OLD TECHNOLOGY. ......BUT it works !

The bouncing balls typically 2" DIAMETER similar to an indian rubber ball makeup imparts a secondary vibration to the screening deck above to REDUCE PLUGGING AND BLINDING.

PLUS: Eliminate clogged hole openings......

NEG: cost of balls is pricy and when wear out ........can drop into your customers product.........typically not a swell thing.

Yes, ball sifting is old technology, but with the use of polyurethane balls, the ball life and bouncing efficiency is far better than the old traditional rubber balls. Also, this material is FDA approved for food applications.

Pricey? Yes, but they typically give a long term price/life advantage of at least 4:1, not to mention the reduced downtime for changing balls etc.

We sell the extremely efficient Karolee polyurethane sifter balls in diameters 13, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 and 50mm.

The screen manufacturers often provide bouncing balls to reduce occurence of clogging of screen cloth, when dealing with smaller size material. So, the arrangement appears to be in practical use.
