KALMATRON admixtures for hot climate

Dear Colleagues,

This is about Concrete Class Upgrading admixture KALMATRON® KF-A and its liquid version K100® as chemically active with cement to accelerate its hydration with water during of 5 to 6 hours.

As it known, cement hydration reaction is not productive enough leaving at 70% cement grains unhydrated or hydrated partly. For instance, after 28 days in contact with water, grains of cement have been found to have hydrated to a depth of only 4 mm, and 8 mm after a year. Dr. Powers calculated that complete hydration under normal conditions is possible only for cement particles smaller than 50 mm, but full hydration has been obtained by grinding cement in water continuously for five days.” The size of a regular cement grain is over 90 mm. For Portland Cement Type I; II the Specific Surface is 2,300 cm2/gr. With KF-A admixture, the same Portland Cement achieves at 6,000 cm2/gr to 8,000 cm2/gr.

The function of KALMATRON® KF-A and K100® and is conceptually similar to magnetizing of concrete batch water. On a beginning of 60th in Europe first time magnetized water was used for concrete batch preparation. Depolarized molecules of water has less self-tensional field with much faster speed of distribution among concrete batch ingredients and – most important thing – reactivity with cement grains. Workability of batch and compressive strength were unusually high, but technology was not accepted by ecological reasons and workmanship safety from magnetic field of producing equipment.

When we found in1982 how to depolarize molecules of water by chemical way, it became an opportunity to utilize cement grain as a thermodynamically independent unit with own magnetic field, electric conductivity, electro static density which determines productivity of hydration reaction with water. It means we could measure those parameters to watch values vanishing, i.e. cement grain size reduction. Absence of unhydrated cement particles into hydrated cement slurry brought new qualities to the cement rock closer to its isotropy resulted in numerous benefits.

KALMATRON® KF-A and K100® admixtures provide stable batch performance by four ways:

1. As a Water Reducer during of mixing, unloading and pumping time;

2. As a Plasticizer during of transportation, handling and placement time;

3. As a Shrinkage controlling and Curing Compounds during of setting time;

4. As a Strength gainer and Impermeability performing agents of hardening time.

Functionally, it could be observed in following performance:

1. Early strengthening at 1st to 3rd day;

2. Higher compressive strength by 25% and higher;

3. Highest adhesion to the most known porous materials;

4. Shrinkage is lower at 2 to 3 times. Just no cracks at all.

5. Exothermic heat is lower at 30% to 50%.

6. No flakes, efflorescence, dusty spots, and slid areas.

7. Water impermeability is 100% beginning from 50 mm or 2” of concrete thick.

8. Highest resistance to chemical and climate corrosions.

9. Increasing of frost-resistance up to 35%;

10. Yield of concrete mix is higher by 3% to 14%.

No isolating or shielding decay coats

No liquid penetration from both sides

No filled up in precast & one step stucco

No toppings with highest abrasion resistance

Regional advantage for beneficial application of concrete with added KALMATRON® in a hot/cold climates is in a simple phenomena that whole batched water became an electrolyte much denser the water by itself. Very slow speed of evaporation from concrete surface results in no shrinkage cracks and lower concrete body dilatation.
