Eriez® New DensitySort® Brochure Focuses on Sorting Nonferrous Fines by Gravity

Erie, PA, USA - The Eriez® DensitySort® Air Table is featured in a new full-color, four-page brochure. The literature, available from Eriez in print and PDF format, highlights the economical DensitySort’s ability to recover 70 percent of red metals from nonferrous fines.

According to the brochure, the DensitySort uses air, vibration and slope to separate heavy and light fractions. Air is evenly distributed throughout the DensitySort’s air table decking to fluidize the material on the deck. DensitySort eliminates the need for sand, water or filtration and delivers payback in as little as six months.

An illustration in the brochure shows the process of fines being fed at the high point of the table’s slope and its own specific mass directing the particles into low, middle or high density sorting bins. Gravity permits more than 70 percent red metal recovery and produces a clean aluminum (Twitch) fraction.

The brochure explains the DensitySort quickly sorts nonferrous fines, known as Zorba, into fractions including: “lights” encompassing aluminum, some non-metallics and some hollow copper tubing; Twitch consisting of floated fragmentize aluminum scrap derived from media separation devices; and Zebra, which includes high density nonferrous metals containing brass, copper, zinc, non-magnetic stainless steel and copper wire.

The literature states by further separating these nonferrous fines, which typically contain 8 to 12 percent red metals, processors can increase their fines’ value by more than 20 percent.

The last page of the brochure highlights the DesitySort’s optional skid mounted air system, a heavy-duty, energy efficient blower that mounts next to the table and is connected by manifold and rubber boots. The system emits exhaust air into the atmosphere after it is collected in a bag house equipped with a 50 HP exhaust fan. Information on the easy-to-transport Dust Collection System is also provided.
