Loss in Weight Suppliers

I need to find a supplier in Ontario Canada or Western New York that can supply a Loss in Weight feeder capable of holding 48 tons of dust with a bulk density of 97 lb/ft3. I need to meter it out at 2 tons per hour weighed to within 1% accuracy.

Anyone have any recommendations?

A classic “Loss-in-Weight” feeder is designed to hold approximately 15 minutes to a few hours of material, and will be replenished 4 to 10 times each hour. We do not recommend LIW technology to directly store 48 tons of material, instead have the LIW feeder hold only 1000 pounds and be refilled from the 48 ton silo.

As an alternate to Loss-in-Weight there is other technology that can meter at your requested 1% accuracy. This includes weighbelt, belt scale, weigh-screw and mass flowmeter. The technology required will be dependent on your process, available space and budget.

Melfi Technologies Inc is a control systems integrator specializing in gravimetric metering with headquarters in Concord Ontario. We supply weighing systems that utilize metering equipment from any of the leading manufacturers, and our controls are non-proprietary using Allen-Bradley hardware and software.

We would appreciate the opportunity to review your application and recommend the best approach.

That's funny Gary. The rep from Promat dropped by my office about 30 minutes after I started this thread. He was just shaking the bushes for business. After speaking with them, you are right, they seem very capable. They are currently working with us on developing a proposal.

Weight loss is the real problem when we do export some products. I hope this forum may help us to know how to solve it.
