Diagonal or V plough internal belt cleaner for wider belt?

pls.clarify whether which is preferable- diagonal or v plough for wider belt width say 3200 mm wide belt feeder application .Normally we prefer diagonal scraper for reversible conveyor ,Hence for wider belt unidirectional application which is preferrable for cleaning belt -diagonal or V-plough internal belt cleaner.

On Unidirectional belt, especially wide belts, it is probably more effective to use a V plough simply because the material can be cleared away at a shorter distant. For exaggeration purposes, a material landing on the top side of the diagonal will have to travel across the width of the belt to be dislodged.

The length (read space) required to install a V is generally shorter than the length of space to install a diagonal plough. This is critical due to placing the plough in a position as flat as possible across the belt. Shorter distance will have less headache with gaps, but the edges of the belt will normally "fall off" which is fine for the material to dislodge. This will also effect how hard/easy to take out the plough for service or blade replacement.

That being said, to dismount a diagonal plough is a bit easier than the V-plough because the diagonal are normally mounted on the edges via the frame of the belt whereas the v-plough would normally hang from the middle of the conveyor frame. However, I am sure lots of conveyor accessory manufacturer will already have advanced ez-mount, ez-replace systems for easier maintenance.

I do not have scientific facts or research to quantify if one style would perform than the other, but these are just the common sense advice we offer to our clients. I'd be interested to know if there are any contradictory ideas from what I know.

In addition the the above comments for unidirectional the V-plow is preferable over diagonal because diagonal can also cause the belt too mistrack due to the forces on the belt and idler adjustments are required offset this reaction. On the other side of the coin with the v-plow you need to clean up on both sides of the belt where diagonal only requires access to one side. So it really comes down to the specific installation or a personal preference.

Hello there...

It was our company's standard procedure to put in Vee-ploughs, but on one mine they gave no end of trouble.

This was as a result of terrible juddering of the vee-ploughs.

Could be due to the material being handled, as we never had this problem with coal.

Anyway, I now actually prefer a single bladed plough as it deposits in one place instead of two, and cannot "nose-dive" and dig into the belt
