Advanced Technology for Diamond Extraction

Posted in: , on 20. Sep. 2011 - 11:32

Simulation of the diamonds extraction with the planetary mill. The autogenous method of dry grinding.

Within the frame of our technology trials of PCM applications the following experiments were done:

1.Four mill drums were loaded with 3.5 kg of granite pebble each 40-70 mm size

Hardness of 1500 kg/cm2, disintegration was without grinding media dry method within 10 minutes.

Results: P96=500 micron, P50=50 micron

2. Into pebbles environment 5-10 mm size, 20 samples of silicon carbide (cubic form with face 5-7 mm.) were inducted, “baked” into spheres 12-14 mm diameter of material with hardness of 700-800kg/cm2.

Disintegration was without grinding media dry method within 3 minutes.

Results:70% of the samples were extracted completely ,15% partially so the crystal

Could be seen, 15% stayed unopened. The original form of the crystals did not change.

PCM use will enable:

1. To extract crystals less then 100 micron size from ore.

2. To process tailings of existing mines for extraction of crystals less then 500 microns size.

3. Practically ideal polishing of the crystals from oxide film will enable to increase the transparency of the crystals on the Xray–luminescent separation.

4. The use of PCM will enable to simplify and increase efficiency of the concentration process.

Rock Breakage Simulation

Posted on 20. Sep. 2011 - 05:43

We may be able to simulate the comminution process in your specific machine to show the biases of multivariant rock strength behavior in your machine. We would use our DEM code ROCKY to simulate the rock breakage under any comminution action that can be mathematically defined.

One limitation would be to limit the number of fractured surfaces to less than 5 million particles, for the moment. This might take a week or more to simulate such a large size breakage model.

Please visit our website for a view of rock and machine actions - no comminution is shown, but, we can demonstrate as will be shown at SAG 2011 with the newly invented CAHM (Conjugate Anvil-Hammer MIll) machine.

We are not John Herbst. Just a bit more advanced.

The question is not in the «bits»…

Why solution of old problem does not interest for scientists and specialists in grinding?

In the last 100 years, which new in the grinding did appear?
