Gypsum Disposal

Hi, to all.

We have an upcoming power station where FGD gypsum will be produced. We anticipate less offtake of the gypsum by users in the initial stages and are contemplating other disposal options.

What other alternatives are available? Hydraulic pumping to pond, etc. Are there any such working installations, if so, what are the issues faced in handling, storing ? Is the gypsum subsequently usable?

Vishy.

The gypsum created out of the stack gas is easily sold vishy, the power plant a few miles from me has a ready market for it also.

Gypsum has a high agricultural value as well, it neutralises any clay in the soil

so selling it will be easy.

It stores very well as long as it is kept dry. conveying it to a dome storage

pile is a win, win as it is a big storage area and easy to fill.

There is need to let it go to waste it in a pond.

Vishy,

The gypsum produced by FGD sysytems can be used in the following applications;

Cement addition, wallboard,plaster of paris, paint fillers, chalks,dental molds, molds for metal casting, beer brewing , food additives , pharmacueticals.

To store it is not difficult and so you can produce it without the need to destroy it.

Here in the UK it is sold by all Power Stations for good business.

We have a good business in the materials handling systems that process FGD Gypsum.

Hope this helps
