Re: Bulk Conveyor Design Training
Gary, since there are no responses, your colleague might have to get a CEMA book and read it cover to cover. Assuming he is working in the industry there should be people he can ask questions of if something is not clear. I have worked in Ontario for 30 years and don't recall ever seeing a course at a University or College or high priced seminar on this subject.
I would recommend getting an older CEMA edition, I bought the last edition and was disappointed in the illustrations and number of errata. I still like my 1978 edition for classic photographs, simple formulai (and the notes I have accumulated in the margins over the years). For short conveyors the changes in CEMA over the years make little difference to the HP calculations. ■

You might have them contact Overland Conveyor. ■
Re: Bulk Conveyor Design Training
Depending on your classifcation of North America, maybe try David Beckley (if he is heading back that way):

Or, please note, you need to select your location for this site:
http://www.idc-online.com/coursesch...country=Canada?country=Canada
Though it doesnt appear this course will be run in your location this year:
http://www.idc-online.com/trainingc...country=Canada?code=CX&country=Canada
I seem to recall reading, they will run courses on site, if you have sufficient numbers, though dont quote me.

Engineering Training
Hi Gary,
I ran one of my four day Practical Belt Conveying courses in Vancouver last year and although this course was well received in Canada with requests for me to return to run another one, I do not currently have any plans to re-visit Canada this year.
This engineering training course is available in Perth and Brisbane with the next course commencing on Monday 14th September 2009 in Perth, Western Australia. More than 900 engineers from Australia, Canada, Indonesia and Chile have now attended one of these courses. The course has a strong practial bias and is suitable for Design, Project and Maintenance Engineers who are involved with belt conveyors.

Re: Bulk Conveyor Design Training
Thanks Dave
I was going to email you because when we spoke before about your course in Canada I was thinking that's what you had said. If you ever do put it on in Canada again please let me know. We have a few new engineers that could use some training.
Thanks again.
