Pulsar Process Measurement Ltd wins Queen’s Award for Enterprise 2009!

Ever since the company’s founding in 1997, Pulsar Process Measurement of Malvern has been an outward-looking business, recognising that global businesses and global contracts require global suppliers. That commitment to export has been recognised as Pulsar have been awarded a 2009 Queen’s Awards for Enterprise: International Trade.

Pulsar has grown steadily since the early days, developing a reputation for technical leadership in the field on non-contacting ultrasonic level measurement equipment, used for process control and monitoring and flow measurement, but export business has consistently accounted for more than half of the company’s sales. Currently, Pulsar has sales in twenty-nine countries, plus a wholly owned subsidiary in the USA, and expansion continues with the appointment, this week, of an International Sales Manager for the Far East area. Against a background of difficult trading conditions all over the world, Pulsar has increased export business in percentage terms by 150% in 5 years, and as a company has grown by more then 20% in the last year alone.

Keith Beard, Pulsar’s MD, said of the award: “We’re absolutely delighted by this recognition of what Pulsar has achieved. This is a highly competitive and very technical industry. We have a dynamic approach to product development and a global outlook, both of which have kept us ahead of our competitors, and this award is a great accolade for the entire team”.

Pulsar has moved premises several times to keep pace with the growth of the business, currently occupying a new building just outside Malvern, Worcestershire.

Pulsar Process Measurement Ltd was established in 1997, and has specialised in the design and manufacture of non-contacting ultrasonic level measurement equipment, much of which is used in the water and wastewater industries in applications such as pump control and open channel flow measurement. The company employs 40 people in the UK, and has an annual turnover of approx £5.5 million.

The actual presentation of the Queen’s Award will probably be made within the next three weeks by the Lord Lieutenant of Worcestershire.
