Screen Won't Start

Had a problem with a new screen body which replaced an old identical body.

Customer called to complain, after retrofitting the new body in........the new screen would not START.

SITE VISIT comments:

2 new bodies were installed here, both identical 6x16 3 deck bodies, rod hung type vibrating screeners.

HMMMMMMM....one started and operated fine.........the other would not start, but, both were the identical design. PERPLEXING....

Turned out, the problem was the pivoted motor base for the one that would not start......was in fact the old pivot base and THE PIVOT ACTION SPRING PART of the base.....was internally busted, and NOT allowing the belts to grab the sheave and START the machine. It would almost start, many many tries.....then blow the breaker, we would go downstairs and reset and retry many many times.

IT WAS COLD as hell at time of startup....in FEB...Canadian winter.....and we figured grease was cold, thick and hard around the bearings and hence trouble starting same. But, the other one started so......twas a bit of a MOLLY-COCK..to figure out.

Replaced old PIVOT BASE with new........and DING......she started and problem was solved.....Another happy camper.
