With SBM, mobile and powerful – the remax MAXI 12

The new engineering concept for tracked crushing and screening equipment from SBM Mineral Processing, first introduced to the public at Bauma 2007, has in the meantime proved itself with many of our customers. (Fig. 1)

During development much importance was attached to typically SBM characteristics.

The remax series is so convincing due to:

• Maximum productivity – through minimising the non-productive activities (e.g. set-up times) and optimising the tried and tested SBM components which are decisive in the overall performance (e.g. the impact crusher).

• Outstanding mobility – the dimensions of the equipment have been optimised for ease of transport. For example, the return belt for oversize stays on the plant for transport but the screening unit can be removed for transport if required.

• Modular concept – the remax ECO (plant without a screening unit) can be retrofitted onto a remax MAXI and the remax MAXI can be operated without the screening unit, if required.

• Flexibility – there is a wide range of options available so that the optimum solution can be offered for the widest range of tasks.

• Ease of maintenance and operation –for example, the return belt for oversize can be swung into the waste stockpile position and the screening unit can be lowered hydraulically for cleaning and maintenance.

High milling rate

Irrespective of the model selected the tried and tested SBM impact crusher, type RHS, gives a high milling rate. The input aperture (840 mm high x 1,260 mm wide) together with the high moment of inertia of the rotor (with a diameter of 1100 mm or 1200 mm, as required) ensures safe operating conditions, even with feeding sizes of up to approx. 700 mm body diagonal (Fig. 3). The feeder trough is controlled by the power to the crusher unit, such that an optimal feed rate to the crusher is achieved, depending on the materials to be fed.

The equipment is fitted with a new, operator-friendly control system. The components used ensure reliable operation, even when used in rough conditions on site (dust, vibration etc.).

The Diesel-electric drive concept guarantees high levels of efficiency for the whole plant, ensuring also low Diesel consumption. The average consumption when crushing hard, reinforced concrete with an end product 0/32 at approx. 150 tons/hour is 30 litres/hour.

The solution found for integrating the post-screening unit is also elegant. This is attached to the frame with bolts. To carry out cleaning or maintenance work it can easily be lowered to the horizontal position or completely removed from the plant. As an optional extra, SBM can also supply an auxiliary frame which enables separate transport on a hook-lift truck.

The 6.1 metre long stockpile belt (optional) for the screened product has a discharge height of more than 3.4 metres. The stockpile volume achieved is an impressive 60 cubic metres which positively affects the commercial viability of the job.

Results: With the remax MAXI 12 the operator has a combined crushing/screening plant which guarantees reliable and cost-effective operation even when fed with difficult materials. Short set-up times and high mobility enable effective deployment even with smaller batch sizes and where the location of the work is constantly changing.
