Dust supression for Diosna mixers

Posted in: , on 26. Jun. 2007 - 18:21

We are using diosna and nauta mixers for mixing spice blends. Some mixture are very dusty. Is there any solution how lo lower the dustiness during mixing and during packaging of these mixes (cleaning, health problems)?

Also is there any alternative to E 551 (food grade)-siloid as an anticaking agent?

Thanks for the responses

Dust In Your Lungs

Hi Bon29,

Certainly mate. The ultimate solution is to put the whole unit in a dust proof chamber, and put the chamber under sufficient negative pressure. We suggested that for our sinter crusher.

Every problem has a solution, and every solution brings new problems.

The reason we were having so much fugitive dust was that the abrasive particles were blowing the gaskets on the crusher. When they were new things worked OK. When they wore though the plant filled with dust so you couldn't see where you were going.

Then we found that the spindle of the crusher was running at 4,000 rpm. That put it in the category of a natural low-pressure fan, which upset the air balance in the combined ducting to the rest of the plant. A dedicated cartridge dust collector may have been more expensive to run, but could have been tuned to maintain adequate balanced negative air pressure.
