Re: Increase In Conveyor Capacity
Can you get the extra volume on your belt? ■

Re: Increase In Conveyor Capacity
Based on the limited information you have given it should not be a problem but existing belt speed needs to be known before a reasonable answer can be given.
Rough calculation assuming 2.8 M/Sec would require approx 115 HP.
What is the % of FLA draw on the 150 HP motor now?
The full system would need to be analysed for bearing loads, counterweight, idler loads, shaft deflection on pulley shafts, etc.
You can't just look at HP and speed. ■

Don't they all want to strip our knowledge for nothing, then go out and try to undercut us! ■
Re: Increase In Conveyor Capacity
Is my understanding right.
The existing motor and reducer can pull 1000ton/hr for that distance ■

I'm sure that Lawrence Nordell will be more than happy to quote you his consultancy rates to sort out this problem.
You should e-mail him. ■
Re: Increase In Conveyor Capacity
Belt construction and allowable load support may/probably will necesitate altering the speed. You have not provided enough information to make any intellegent assessment.

Re: Increase In Conveyor Capacity
Dear Shri Kamlesh,
It seems you are designing / deciding about the adequacy of drive for belt conveyor. You can do so using the published information, such as IS / ISO / DIN etc. The checking of such adequacy involves engineering work.

Increase In Conveyor Capacity
We want to increase the capacity of a conveyor from 500 ton/hr to 1000 tons/hr without increasing the speed of the existing belt.
I would like to know if the following specifications on the drive assembly would be sufficeint to pull a load of 1000 tons/hr.
Motor size: 150 hp
Reducer model # : 405A3-CB
Ratio : 31.03
High speed coupling: Fluid coupling 1420HFD20 with 1025G20
Low speed coupling : 1120T10
Horizontal length: 606 m
Lift : 4.62m
Conveyor belt width: 36 inches
Conveyor belt length: 1213m
Counterweight is a trolley cart arramgement on the tail pulley
Comveyor has only 3 pulleys: drive, pressup and tail.
Material transported: DRI
Lump size : 50 mm
Density: 1.9 tons/cu.m ■
