As I recall, the Worsley system has two flights of about 25km and 30km each.

Why would you compare a flat belt with circular belt? Neither have good capacity properities?

One is prone to spillage when turning around horizontal curves at higher modern belt speeds.

One is prone to being hard to control its orientation when negotiating horizontal curves so that the belt is centered leading into the head discharge chute.

Seriously consider PNEUMATIC CAPSULE PIPELINES as another form of transportation for your application. P.C.P.'s can easily handle your requirements transporting horizantally and/or vertically. The capital cost is about the same as a covered belt conveyor while the operating cost is .5 to .7 of a comveyor. A system can range in length from 1.5 to tens of km.

Multiple capsules form trains. Multiple trains are in transit inside a pipeline similtaneously shuttling back and forth, automatically loading and unloading to give you the required tonnage per year.
