Re: Din 53516 Abrasion Requirement???
It is an accepted method (standard) to rate the abrasion resistance between rubber compounds. Operators, engineers and manufacturers use it to compare differing cover rubber products.
It is not comprehensive. It does not include temperature, variations in rock morphology, edge sharpness, size and impact conditions, pressure and turbulence properties.
There are separate tests for tear or gouging resistance, which some argue is a part of abrasion. It is a matter of scale.
The test does not quantify the abrasion degradation due to differences in applied stress. elastic modulus, tensile strength, cross-link density, filler properties, et al. ■

Re: Din 53516 Abrasion Requirement???
I have met an question, that is about DIN 53516, however I do not have the document about the the standard.
Question as follows:
Is it a conveyor belt standard ?
What about the abrasion requirement in the standard?
As you know, the lowest abrasion requirment is how many mm3?90mm3 120mm3 or more in actual using condition.
Many Thanks
Yung
1. DIN53516 is suitable for test rubber and elastomers. If your material is rubber or elastomers, it may be suitable for you. This test standard can be conducted by DIN abrasion tester.
2. DIN 53516 for wear abrasion is to test sample mass loss by rubbing on abrasive paper under cetain pressure. Caculate the volume loss(mm3) by sample density and the loss of standard rubber.
3. Q3 you may need to check production standard, DIN 53516 is test standard.
For this tester details, you can find here supported by Unuo Instruments Co., Ltd ■
