The 8th International Continuous Surface Mining Symposium covers current highlights of continuous mining as well as related environmental aspects in unconsolidated and consolidated rock mines. National and international experts will present technical papers and case studies in different fields.

Beginning with a general plenary event on the "Position and Situation of Energy and Economy from a National and International Point of View", the symposium will be covering the following major topics in partly parallel sessions:

1. Continuous surface mining equipment and mining systems

2. Drilling, dewatering, slope stability and soil mechanics

3. Deposit and mine simulation, computerized mine planning

4. Surface mining and the environment

5. Control of operations, organization and management

6. Continuous mining and transportation in consolidated rock mines

Concluding the symposium, there will be the opportunity to participate in excursions to surface mines of the Rhenish brown coal district.

Persons accompanying the participants have the opportunity to visit the historical sites of the city of Aachen as well as to get to know the nearby Eifel region, which is an important recreational environment for Germany and its neighbouring countries.

Die 8. Internationale Fachtagung für kontinuierliche Tagebautechnik behandelt aktuelle Fragestellungen der Mineralgewinnung und verknüpfter umweltrelevanter Gesichtspunkte in Locker- und Festgesteinstagebauen. Dabei werden von nationalen und internationalen Referenten praxisnahe Themen unterschiedlicher Fachbereiche aufgegriffen.

Ausgehend von einer themenübergreifenden Plenarveranstaltung zum Thema "Entwicklung in der Tagebautechnik" wird das Fachsymposium im Rahmen z. T. parallel verlaufender Vortragskomplexe folgende Sektionen umfassen.

Betriebsmittel in kontinuierlich arbeitenden Tagebauen

Bohrwesen, Wasserwirtschaft, Gebirgsmechanik

Lagerstättenmodellierung, Betriebsplanung, Simulation

Tagebau und Umwelt

Betriebsüberwachung und -steuerung

Kontinuierliche Gewinnungs- und Fördertechnik im Festgesteinstagebau

Zum Abschluss der Veranstaltung besteht die Möglichkeit, an Exkursionen zu Tagebauen des rheinischen Braunkohlenreviers teilzunehmen.

Für Begleitpersonen besteht die Möglichkeit, neben der Kaiserstadt Aachen auch die nahegelegene Eifelregion kennen zu lernen.
