Wirecloth, its manufacture, its alloy, its weave type, its installation tension, its exposure to HIGH silica content material and exposure to darn right damage from ABUSE is a complex variable adding much cost to your operation if not monitored.
That was a long sentence.....
LET chat about FLAT TOP WEAVE today.
What is it? This is wirecloth where the WEAVING method actually creates a wirecloth TOP SURFACE where all the knucles of the crimp are located on the underside of the screen section. THE TOP SURFACE exposed to ROCK going over it is actually FLAT...also known as SMOOTH TOP.
WHO Cares, Why Use it? If you think about this. Let's pick a large opening........say.....4" square opening. Would come with a .500" diameter or larger diameter wire possibily say .625".
When you weave one of the THICK diameter wires over another ----You now have plus minus 1" to 1 1/4" HIGH KNUCKLES sitting right in front of every ROCK sliding down the DECK. The knuckles get hammered, WORN, then BREAK from abuse, equals SHORT LIFE and higher replacement costs and more overtime hours to replace.
TRY FLAT TOP.......ask for it......it is just a different DYE for crimping, cost should not be much higher....but, reduction of costs should be substantial and increase time in before changeout should increase substantially.
