December 5, 2005
Dear Sir,
We are planning the replacement of the presently installed material handling system on a self unloader ship of our client.
The ship is a bulk carrier fitted with a material handling system on deck.
The ship has 9 holds, DWT 62000T, GRT 39000T, Length over all 259 M, extreme breadth 32 M.
Material handled is iron ore, dry and free flowing, lumps and fines, 2.2 - 2.6 T/M3, max 500 gm each lump, rate 1500 T/Hr.
Presently fitted are 3 gantry cranes and one fixed crane forward newly installed, 3 hoppers and 2 discharging booms.
We are looking to increase handling capacity to 2500 T/Hr.
Kindly advise if your company can undertake the design, procurement, installation and commissioning of a suitable system.
We look forward to your response.

Bulk Material Handling System On Self-Unloader Ships
Dear Sir,
With the increased rate requirements you should consider a 100% belt conveyor self unloading conversion. This will require a a floor of sloped hoppers, just above the inner bottom, with one or more collecting conveyors below, running the length of the ship. At the end a C-Profile sandwich-belt high angle conveyor will elevate the material to above the deck onto a discharge boom conveyor. The full length collecting conveyor, under the holds, can be the tail of the C-Profile elevating sandwich belt, elliminating a material transfer and preserving cargo space.
We are the world's foremost experts in sandwich belt type high angle conveyors, the technology that facilitates such systems. We offer the DSI Snake Sandwich High Angle Conveyor, the most advanced and economical system for your requirements. For this application the elevating conveyor is referred to as thr DSI C-Snake and it can be built for virtually un limited rates.

Bulk Material Handling System on Self-Unloader Ships
November 30, 2005
Dear Sir,
We are a marine consultancy company. Presently we are engaged in the planning of replacement of an existing material handling system on board ship of a client, with a view to enhance its capacity.
The vessel is a bulk carrier with the following details:
GRT 46178 T
DWT 62000 T
Length overall 259 M
Extreme beam 32.25 M
9 Holds.
Material handled - Iron ore, calibrated lumps and fines, 2.2 T/M3 - 2.6 T/M3, 50mmx50mmx50mm, max 500 gm weight each lump. Dry and free flowing.
Present capacity 1500 T/hr. 3 Gantry cranes and 1 fixed crane forward, 3 hoppers, 2 unloader booms.
Electricity on boad ship 440 Volt, 60 HZ.
Kindly advise if you are able to undertake the project to supply cranes, conveyor belt system and other items necessary for the self loading and discharging of iron ore for this vessel. We envisage replacing the cranes on gantry, or replace same with 3 fixed pedestal cranes, retaining the forward crane that was fitted new about 3 years ago.
Best regards,
