Hi,

I am trying to find manufacturers / suppliers of special tapered polyester+PVC belts with fabric bottom for conveying gypsum boards.

The belt size is :

One end thickness = 1.9 mm

Other end thickness = 0.7 mm

Width of the belt = 75 mm

Lenght = 300 m endless

The taper in thickness is along the lateral cross section ( across the width )

The application is that two of these 300 m long endless belts are mounted on both ends of a 1.2 m wide, 300 m long rubber belt all along the length. And gypsum boards are carried on this belt arrangement.

I would appreciate if someone can explain the need for such belt arrangement for gypsum conveying and suggest any suppliers of this type of belts..

Regards,

Robert

Robert,

As you have not indicated the process where the gypsum boards are being transported, we have to guess. Presumably, you are talking about the gypsum boarde transfer stations which are located at the end of Gypsum Wallboard production lines. These transfer stations normally consist of driven rollers and transfer belts such as you described. The multiple transfer belts are drven by a single drive roller and raise to receive the wallboard. Once the wallboard is in position over the transfer rollers, the belts stop and are lowered so that the wallboard is deposited on the transfer rollers. The transfer rollers then carry the wallboard away.

As far as the belts are concerned, the ones that are tapered with a smaller bottom cover width are designed so that the angled sides get greater purchase on the grooved drive roller. Some wallboard plants use straight (even width) belts for this purpose, depending on the manufacturer of the machine.

You can locate a source for the belts by contacting the equipment manufacturer. Alternatively, you can have a lightweight belt distrubuter custom fabricate them for you.

Possible Supplies

If you are looking for different types of idlers, you could try the following suppliers

Tyton Idlers: Newcastle

ConvaTech: Newcastle

For the Tru Track, I had the pleasure of meeting the South African Representative to give me an in depth description of how it works, I refer to these items as belt trainers and they train the belt or track the belt. These help with belt tracking on the return and also the carry side.

For training idlers, try Razor Industries who is stocking the Tru Tracks in various.

If you contact these companies, tell them that Mark Anderson of ConvaTech sent you.
