The main parameters of the pipe conveyor is as:

1. length 2.65m;

2. vertial lift 0m;

3. load 1000 mtph;

4. belt speed 3.15m/s;

5. pipe diameter 300mm;

6. belt width 1150mm;

7. idler diameter 133mm;

8. idler space 1.5m;

9. matiral density 2000kg/m^3;

10. low temp -25c;

11. total curve angle 260c.

please tell me how much power.

With best regards.

A thumb suck guess is about 500 kw without the influence of:

a) horizontal curve pressure

b) cold weather belt rubber compound @ -25 C

c) idler drag and bearing details

d) belt selection with a single drive and assoc. TUp

e) dual drive and assoc TUP

f) TUP type, location, details

g) no lump size details / granular size distribution

h) forgotten needs

Thank you.

I have some question. The power calculation results of belt conveyor under the working condition is 750kw. Why is the power of pipe conveyor lower ?

I have no idea how you computed the power at 750 kW. I do not believe it. What formulae are you using: CEAM, ISO, DIN22101, JPC, other???

The conventional belt will pull much less than the pipe at 500 kW unless I have made a mistake. This happens from time to time. I do have some checks that keep it in check.

Thank you.

The DIN f is 0.039 under the low temp. The power is motor power. Is it correct?

Please. THe value I have noted is an estimate. This is not gospel. I am ofering free advice and I am not doing in-depth analysis.

If you are doing more than obtaining a rough estimate, then find a design expert and get it done correctly with the knowledge that all factors are accounted for. This is more than a 20 minute project.

The belt rubber compound can alter the estimate by up to +/-30%. I do not know your country of origin or what belt you intend to purchase, or by what construction. All these are relevant.

So please tell us where you are located.

I also noted that the horizontal and vertical curve pressures are not included in the power calculatrion. There are a number of other ommissions for which I say: " a rough estimate OK, for design get help.

Why would the pipe designer use 133 mm diameter rolls? Why not larger? WHat is the lump size? Will the diameter work with the max. lump size or lump size distribution? Why 1150mm wide belt which yields a 207mm belt overlap where a 1050 mm wide belt would do with a 147mm overlap which also has a 68% loading.

I am not cofident you are getting my message beyond "rough estimate".

Pipe Conveyor Power

Dear sir

For 2650 m long 1000 tph pipe conveyor having idler spacing of 1.5 m at operating temperature of 25 degree 750 kw motor rating seems to be on lower side . You have to calculate power considering 6 nos of carrying and 6 nos of return rollers at every 1.5 m spacing. as per our estimates considering good quality of belt conveyor motor ratings should be in the range of 900 KW.

In any case if you consider belt conveyor you can save power as no of rolls per meters will be less.

Dear Mr. Long650101,

It is difficult to indicate you the kW because the same will amount to designing of the item. I can only say power requirement for pipe conveyor will be on higher side.
