Dolomite grinding

We want to grind dolomite which is available in granular form ranging from .5 mm to 30 mm.

The dolomite is with 20 % magnesium. Our required product isesh is -16 US mesh (pass with no restriction on fines)and five ton per hour.

moisture is high upto .5 %

Kindly suggest a suitable grinding machine. I am thinking of a roll crusher. We have tried a hammer mill but production is not satisfactory.

Also suggest for seiving the same product.

Umar

Dear Mr. Umar

When you say your requirement is 16 mesh SAY 99 % PASSING THE FINNER SIZE COULD BE ANYTHING SAY UPTO 400 MESH OR EVEN FINNER.

Now you you will have to decide how fine will suit your requirement.

using a hammer mill will give you a top size of 100 mesh 95% passing and no coarser.

secondly you cannot screen 16 mesh easily in a vibrating screen even if your product is bone dry.

Now what will be the best alternative is dependent on the moisture and your finner size restriction

Case I :use a beatter box and the opening size on the delivery side is a matter of trial and arriving at a correct gap opening.

But still you need to screen out the course!!! the cheaper solution will be a tromel screen - : highly inclined and having a larger than 16 mesh opening perforations to udjust for the inclination.

Even then you will have to stop the screen and clean it very often depending on the nature of you product and environmental conditions. This is a simple solution assuming you dont need to control on the finer size

If you do have a restriction on the finner sizes you will have to fit a mechanical air seprator to de dust the ground product

Trust the suggestions were of help

Thanks

Dear Mr. Umar,

we can grind dolomite according your wish, but we need more information about this.

Could you send us more information about inlet material charakteristics (moisture, SiO2 content, grindibility…)? Unless we can send you only general offer.

Next, please, send us which mesh for product you are using? ASTM, TYLER or BS? Or could you send us product fineness in mm or mm incl. residue on sieve?

Nevertheless, we have grinding equipment for every cases above.

Dear Mr Umar,

To reach the fineness of 16 mesh (equal to 1 mm) the best solution is really the roller mill.
